ruler or tape measure

1. Measure the candle so that you have 1 inch between each year, tie a piece of string around your candle to mark the measurements.

2. Stick one sequin above each piece of string using the sequin pins. Then write a number with the pen or marker, 1 to 12 starting from the top of the candle. Remove the string so as not to burn it.

3. Decorate the candle with the stickers.

4. The area between each sequins is the amount you burn each year.
